Ntfyx plugins for Claude Code and Codex: answer from your phone

Install encrypted phone questions, completion alerts and Session conversations for Claude Code and Codex. One-command setup, marketplace installation and precise compatibility.

Get a task update, tap a choice below the original message, or reply with text from iPhone, Android or your authorized Web Inbox. Ntfyx verifies the signed answer on your computer before the agent continues. CLI 0.1.3 and plugin 0.2.0 include Session conversations and phone-reply guidance.

One-command setup

Install your agent first, then run the matching command below. The signed installer installs Ntfyx, waits for your phone to authorize the QR connection, and merges MCP, hooks and a phone-reply skill into that agent’s settings. Use --agent both only if you want both installed agents configured. Restart the agent afterwards; Codex hooks require your review in /hooks.

Direct setup and plugin installation are alternative methods: use one per host.

Prefer installing a marketplace plugin?

Install CLI 0.1.3+ and pair your phone first. These commands add the public Ntfyx marketplace to your local agent; they are not a claim of inclusion in an official curated directory. Keep ntfyx on the host’s PATH. To switch from direct setup, run ntfyx setup claude-code --remove or ntfyx setup codex --remove first; this preserves phone credentials.

Verify one real reply

Start a new agent session and ask: “Use Ntfyx to ask me a test question on my phone.” Tap an option or type a reply. Check that the agent reports your actual answer. Configuration success is not phone-delivery proof. This test does not authorize a deployment, purchase or other action. If no message arrives, run ntfyx doctor and check phone notification permissions.

Which questions reach the phone?

Native AskUserQuestion has encrypted integration tests; real-host/device acceptance is separate. Tool execution approval is a different feature, with verified Linux x64 combinations listed in the Agent guide. The phone route respects cancellations, deadlines, signatures and one-time claims. A late answer cannot resume an ended invocation.

Sessions keep the context

Use one session_id for one agent conversation. Native hooks carry the host session ID; MCP calls use session_id and session_name. Without an ID, messages remain separate. The conversation groups messages you send; it does not export the whole agent transcript or give the phone remote-shell access.

Session behavior and examples

Local by design

The plugin runs the paired CLI on your computer. It does not send your private keys to a hosted MCP service. Cloud chats cannot run that local executable. A plugin install never replaces the host’s sandbox, hook trust or permission policy. Official directory distribution has separate rules and review; the public Ntfyx marketplace is available now.
