For a whole Claude Code session, start with official Remote Control if your account is eligible. For Claude Code and Codex session access, evaluate Happy. For a completion alert, a terminal notification or ntfy completion hook may be enough. For permission decisions or questions, compare the supported workflow in Ntfyx, BotBell, AgentPager, Pushary and claude-remote-approver.

Capabilities, requirements and starting prices

#

Permission approval authorizes a specific tool action. Answering a question supplies input to a waiting task. A completion notification reports an event. Check all three separately; a button, MCP support or encryption label does not establish the whole workflow. Sources and the verification date are attached to each row.

Ntfyx: one Inbox for scripts and agent replies

#

Ntfyx fits a workflow that sends command or script results and occasionally waits for a confirmation, choice or text answer. It keeps answers with the original question and can group task updates in a Session. It does not mirror an entire agent transcript or provide a remote shell.

Terminal
npm run build && ntfyx send "Build passed"
ntfyx ask "What should I check next?" --text

Ntfyx native approvals: the verified boundary

#

Native permission hooks were verified on Linux x64 with Claude Code 2.1.283 / 2.1.284 and Codex 0.158.0, and on Apple silicon Mac with Claude Code 2.1.303 and Codex 0.163.0 (CLI 0.1.5+). Intel Mac native approvals remain unverified and return to the terminal. Codex requires interactive TUI and /hooks trust; codex exec does not trigger that approval flow.

Claude permission hooks are opt-in with --permissions on. Claude interactive terminal-choice precedence and terminal UI takeover have not been verified.

When another approach fits better

#

If you only use Claude Code and want its entire conversation on your phone, official Remote Control is a more direct fit than Ntfyx. Choose a full-session tool such as Happy when reading and steering sessions is the goal. For a simple one-way alert, a small ntfy hook can be sufficient. Ntfyx supports Windows CLI and local MCP.

If supported self-hosting, full-session control or arbitrary terminal input is required, choose a tool designed for that workflow. Native permission hooks have the separate platform limits above.

Choose the workflow first, then verify a harmless notification or question on your own devices before relying on it. The computer and waiting process must remain available for a phone answer to continue that task.
